selected recordings & productions
Christophe Claeys - 1/2 (released May 9, 2023)
(drums, electronics)
Deconstructed bird calls and songs triggered by drums and partially processed by effects, in close connection-reaction to my playing.
This selection of improvisations was recorded during a solo performance at the first ever Eco-festival in Wetteren on April 28, 2024. The stairwell of the local art academy provided a fitting setting for the drums and car radio speaker configuration of the electronics.

Naga Ghost - the kinder one lives inside (released May 15, 2021)
(drums, percussion, synths, programming, and co-production)
Naga Ghost debut album, the venture of two individuals with a common goal to experiment and give way to the moment. During a couple of residencies Annelies Van Dinter (Echo Beatty) and I worked with an intentional set-up, but without an intentional destination, while crossing the borders of our comfort zones and treading light-footed while doing so.

Black Phoebe (released September 18, 2020)
(synths, programming)
Shelley Brien (Singrid Lund) and husband Mark Lanegan (Dark Mark) pursue a gothic wave and washed-out techno muse in a deliciously cranky follow-up to Lanegan’s acclaimed ‘Downwelling’ LP with Not Waving in 2019.
Just before heading out on a 2 month European tour with Mark Lanegan Band in the fall of 2019 (which was destined to be the very last one ever), all band members recorded some additional arrangements and ideas at home for Black Phoebe’s debut EP.

16 Visions Of Ex-Futur (released October 14, 2016)
(drums, electronics)
Excited by Véronique Vincent & Aksak Maboul’s acclaimed ‘lost’ avant-pop opus, a host of artists from all over the place launched into reinterpretations of the songs from the Ex-Futur album.
I was involved in the 2016 line-up of Aksak Maboul, who we did these two freshly-recorded “self-covers” with, with surprise appearances by members of Kasai Allstars and Aquaserge.

Amatorski - Impatience (DVD, released 2013)

A special performance for which we wrote an original soundtrack for the eponymous experimental film from 1928 by Charles Dekeukeleire. A 36-minute piece featuring abstract textures and mesmerizing melodies. The accompanying live show (which was performed 30 times during a theater tour throughout 2012) consisted of a screening of the film with a simultaneous live performance of the soundtrack. Our performance at the Ancienne Belgique was recorded and made available on a limited DVD.

Amatorski/krakatau - Human Interest (premiered April 1, 2009 at Festival Cement, Maastricht, NL)
(drums)
Music theater performance for which we did the scoring and live musical accompaniment.
After its passage at the ITs festival (Amsterdam, NL), Human Interest was invited to the ACT festival in Bilbao in 2010. In the jury report of the ITs guest award, where Human Interest came in third place, the performance was described as follows:
“Human Interest showed a really interesting contemporary way to communicate two connected but very different stories by the use of music as an intermediair. The connection between the two very well performed stories was very subtle, the connection with different nowadays violence was very clear and touching.”
